5 Spring Dessert Recipes

Scattered Blueberries

75 Tresser apartments in Stamford, CT is the ideal setting to entertain guests and family members. The gorgeous kitchens and light and airy apartment interiors make entertaining a breeze. For the best of what spring has to offer, look to the following five spring dessert recipes. These are recipes that you can easily cook up right in your kitchen and serve to your hungry guests. For the best results, always use the freshest ingredients possible.

1. Lemon Squares

Made with fresh lemons, lemon squares can be prepared ahead of time and frozen for enjoying at any time. These lemony squares go well with tea or coffee. If you don’t want to make these from scratch, you can find a boxed mix in the baking aisle of your favorite grocery store.

2. Strawberries and Cream Chiffon Cake

A chiffon cake is similar in texture to an angel food cake. But this version is a lot richer than angel food. The taste is light and airy, just like the air in springtime. Filled with whipped cream and macerated strawberries, this spring dessert will entice your guests’ taste buds. Since it is so rich and decadent, a small sliver will suffice for each guest. Serve with coffee or tea.

3. Rhubarb Pie

The beautiful red color of rhubarb is retained when you make a spring dessert recipe of rhubarb pie. Tart and tangy, rhubarb pie is best with a dollop of ice cold ice cream on top.

4. Jam Shortbread

One of the best things about spring is that berries are in abundant supply. It’s impossible to pass up all the fresh berries at farmers markets and in the grocery stores without bringing home your own selection. But once they’re home, they deserve something spectacular that brings out all their flavor. Why not whip up a spring dessert recipe of jam shortbread? You can easily have a recipe like this finished in less than half an hour, ready to serve your guests.

5. Blueberry Scones

Another great way to make use of those spring berries is to make blueberry scones. Scones are perfect for dipping in coffee and tea and make a terrific spring dessert.

Woman in Spa

5 Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day

Woman in SpaMother’s Day is fast approaching, and it’s the perfect day to honor the woman in your life who has given you so much. For those who live in Stamford apartments, we have some excellent ideas to make this day extra special.

5 Great Ways to Honor Mom on Mother’s Day

  1. Flowers are a classic gift for moms, but how about something a bit more personal? Take her to spend the day at Bartlett Arboretum and Gardens. Just like flowers, the day won’t last forever, but the memories you create of spending the day together will.
  2. Moms love spending time with their kids, but sometimes an extra special treat is getting to spend some time on their own, being pampered in ways they wouldn’t normally indulge themselves. Consider a gift certificate to one of the many fine spas in Stamford, such as Agora Spa, The Loft Salon and Spa or Thai Serenity Spa.
  3. Maybe Mom would prefer to have some company while enjoying a day of self-care? In this case, take in a yoga class or book a manicure.
  4. A walk on the beach is a perfect way to enjoy being together as a family. Cummings Park or Cove Island Park are great places to enjoy a spring Sunday.
  5. Brunch is a classic Mother’s Day activity, and for good reason. There’s nothing like a long, leisurely breakfast at one of Stamford’s fine restaurants that leaves you far too full for lunch.

Of course, there’s something extra special about giving experiences that you’ve prepared yourself. Cooking brunch at home is an ideal way to show your gift comes from the heart. If you’re not feeling like your culinary skills are up to par, it’s time to get practicing, and what easier way to do that than in our modern designer kitchens. Or, make an entire day out of the celebration and plan a BBQ at our grilling area. After a long day spent eating, enjoy reminiscing around our outdoor fire pit and thinking about all the new memories you plan to make in the year to come. Man Fishing in Water

Five Fun Outdoor Activities to Do Near Stamford

Man Fishing in WaterNow that the weather is starting to warm up, it’s time to spread your wings and explore all that Stamford, Connecticut has to offer in terms of outdoor activities. Here are five activities that should make your short list of things to try this spring and summer.

Stamford boasts a number of great areas that are perfect for kayakers, including the coastline between Shippan Point and Nash Island. Holly Park is another popular spot for kayaking. If you own your own kayak and are searching for others to paddle with, check out the Stamford Kayaking Meetup Group. Don’t own a kayak? No problem. During the summer months, you can rent kayaks from the Young Mariners Foundation concession stand, which is located on the Harbor Point waterfront.

Fun with Fido

After a long winter, your pup is probably dying to get out and explore Stamford, as well. So make sure to take your pooch to the Stamford Dog Park at Courtland Park. This off-leash park offers separate areas for big and small canines. You can also take your leashed dogs to Cove Island Park for some beach fun.

Mountain Biking

If you love mountain biking, you’ll want to head over to Mianus River Park, which contains a fun network of trails that are good for both novice and intermediate riders. Not comfortable riding alone? Then check out the Stamford Bicycling Meetup Group to find new friends to ride with.

Fishing Charters

Do you love fishing? Or perhaps, you’re just interested in catching some nice fish to grill. Then it’s time to head out to sea on a fishing charter. Some of the fish you might catch include fluke, striped bass and bluefish.

Explore New York City on Foot

Small Dog and Toy

5 Eco-Friendly Dog Toys and Treats to Celebrate Earth Day

Small Dog and ToyThese treats and toys will not only delight your dog, they’re eco-friendly as well! Earth Day is just around the corner, and you’ll be able to celebrate the day in style at your Stamford apartment home with your pup if you opt for one or more of these eco-friendly ideas.

Recyclable Frisbee

Your pup loves their frisbee—sometimes a little too much. Frisbees that get chewed up or mostly destroyed end up in landfills and the plastic just simply won’t degrade. Opt for a recyclable frisbee made from hemp or another eco-friendly, dog-friendly material. You’ll be able to play just as hard, but once the toy has been chewed beyond repair, it will degrade naturally over time.

Stuffless Dog Toys

Got a chewer? If your dog routinely kills and then rips apart stuffed animals, depositing the stuffing on the floor, you’ll have to cope with a lot of trash. A stuffless toy is more durable and creates less trash than a conventional one—and it’s safer for your dog, too.

Locally Made Treats

Buying local is for more than just people. Supporting a local dog treat business or bakery ensures that your pup always has fresh treats and that those treats aren’t being shipped all over the country. Buying local reduces the carbon footprint for both you and your pet and is an easy way to be eco-friendly year-round.

Specialty Crate

Instead of plastic that will wear out and end up in a landfill, choose a comfortable and inviting wood crate for your pup. When it is not in use as a sleeping space or den, it can be used as a stylish piece of furniture. Choosing your crate wisely keeps plastic out of the landfill and ensures you get years of use from your selection.

Recycled Material Collar and Leash

Designed to be both eco-friendly and safe for your dog, a leash or collar made from recycled materials makes a statement every time you take a walk. Look for dog coats, collars and more made from recycled materials and you’ll support eco-friendly businesses on Earth day and year-round.

Missed the Parade? Don’t Despair – Stamford Has Plenty More to Offer!

People SocializingParade buffs were surely glad to have come out of their Stamford apartments on March 4th and 5th, when the city held its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. At this event, festivities started with a breakfast with Grand Marshal Bob Callahan, which cost $40 for kids and $55 for adults. Then, the parade itself started later that day. Attendance at the breakfast was not required in order to see the parade, so everyone got to be part of the audience. The parade was a hit, with no problems to interfere with viewing the floats and enjoying the activities. So what other events are taking place in Stamford soon? Read on to find out.

What’s Coming Up Next?

Though this parade has already taken place, there are plenty of other things to do in and around Stamford. On March 10, check out the Celtic Crossing Concert taking place at the Palace Theater. This concert features Phil Coulter, who actually hails from Ireland, along with Andy Cooney, a tenor who is described as “magnificent.” Mr. Coulter has 23 platinum discs under his belt along with several more golds and silvers. For lovers of Celtic music, this is a can’t-miss show.

Those who are interested in public education will want to go to the awards and fundraising event held by the Stamford Public Education Foundation over at the Sheraton on E. Main Street. The Foundation runs programs alongside the schools to provide tutoring, mentoring, and other services to students who need extra help. It also sponsors events like its Work Study program, which helps beef up students’ resumes while providing them with direct help on things like how to succeed at job interviews.

These are just a couple of the many events that take place in and around Stamford itself. Of course, New York City is only a short drive away, and it has too many possibilities to even count. This makes Stamford a great place for those who seek entertainment. Just stay near your home for the more laid-back atmosphere and local flavor of the smaller city, or hop over to NYC for the energetic bustle.

3 Ways to Decorate with Flowers

FlowersSpring is in the air and it’s time to start stowing away the heavy winter decor in exchange for some lighter fare. Flowers are an easy way to add fresh elements to your decor while also turning the mood toward warmer weather. Here are three ways to decorate your Stamford apartments with flowers.

1. Fresh and Faux Arrangements

The simplest way to decorate with flowers is to create arrangements throughout your home. If you seem to be missing a green thumb, or you don’t want to refresh cut stems regularly, faux flowers will look just as good in most situations.

If a vase full of flowers seems too boring, make it interesting by choosing more interesting containers. A colorful child’s rain boot or an old teapot will add a little something special. If you are not confident in your arrangement skills, keep it simple and try a single stem in a tall glass vase or stick to classic flowers like tulips and carnations.

2. Fabrics and Prints

Bring in a bit of spring by switching out your comforter with a floral print or lighten up the living room with floral pillows. Try hanging a framed print or canvas art, or get crafty and create a shadow box with dried flowers.

If floral prints and fabrics seem too old-fashioned, try abstract designs that use the colors found in your favorite flowers. From soft greens to bright yellows and reds, choosing the right color palette can provide the same effect but in a much more subtle way.

3. Invisible Flowers

Don’t forget about the power of aroma to add to your overall decor scheme. If you’re not feeling the flowers in all your decorations, try a scented candle, wax melting pot, or plug-in scent to change the atmosphere. Gone are the days of unpleasant sprays, today you can find an endless supply of pleasing aromas in every fragrance so finding the one for you should be a cinch.

All About You

From bunches of cut flowers to abstract paintings, incorporating floral decor should always be about making you feel good in your spaces. We offer a variety of floor plans to fit every personality. To learn more about how we can make you feel at home, contact 75 Tresser today.
