Maintaining a healthy lifestyle when living in Stamford apartments does not mean you have to spend all your time at a gym. You can exercise in the comfort of your apartment by working with bodyweight training or focusing on exercises that do not require extensive equipment. Here are 5 easy workouts to get started!

Push-Ups

Push-ups are a simple exercise that only requires floor space and your body. Start with your knees on the floor and your hands at shoulder width. Lower your body to the floor and then push up with your arms. As you get used to the exercise, you can move away from knee push-ups to build endurance.

Squats

Squats are a bodyweight exercise that is adjustable for greater intensity. You can add weights to make the exercise more difficult or you can add repetitions for more of a challenge. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and then move in the same way you would if you were sitting in a chair. Do not allow your knees to pass your toes. Go down as far as you can comfortably and slowly stand back up. Keep your back straight to avoid injuries.

Jumping Jacks

Although exercises to build muscle are important for your health, you also want to get your heart rate up. Jumping jacks are a simple exercise you can enjoy at home that increases your heart rate. Start with your legs together. Hop and move your legs out while you lift your hands over your head. Hop a second time and bring your feet back together and your hands down at your sides. Repeat the process for one minute or until you start breathing hard.

Leg Lifts/Push-Ups

Leg lifts improve your balance and help build your core muscle strength. Start in a push-up position and then lower your body until you rest your weight on the flat of your arms. Lift one leg off the ground while maintaining your balance on your arms and your other leg. Lower the leg and repeat with the opposite leg.

Lunges

Lunges are a bodyweight exercise that builds leg and core muscles. Start with your legs together and your hands on your hips. Step forward and bend your knee to a 90-degree angle. Stand back up and bring your legs back together. Repeat with the opposite leg.
